Get Saturday 20th March in your diary as Goalball UK are declaring it as 5k Day!

Following the recent announcements of ‘Road Maps’ by the respective UK Governments, a return to goalball is getting ever closer. Until we can safely get back in the sports hall though, to help build our fitness and maintain our motivation, we are encouraging the #GoalballFamily to virtually come together and challenge themselves to walk, jog or run a 5k on Saturday 20th March.

Obviously, this will have to adhere to the current Government guidance specific to your local area (e.g. for England – staying local, only meeting up with 1 other person from outside your own household and observing social distancing rules). If you don’t want to, or are unable to leave your home, you can jog on the spot in your front room – no excuses are allowed! – or if you are fortunate to have a treadmill at home, you could do it on this, or alternatively lots of laps of your garden.

We will be reminding everyone nearer to the date, but please send us (or share on social media) photos or videos of you taking part. You could even ask family and friends if they would be willing to sponsor you via our new online donation platform.

For the existing parkrunners in the #GoalballFamily, they have probably already heard the exciting news that parkruns (in England) are set to return from Saturday 6th June (with Junior 2k parkruns returning even earlier from Sunday 11th April). So our 5k Day is a great warm up for this!
