Monday 5th August – Wednesday 7th August saw Goalball UK run the annual Summer Camp, hosted this year at RNC Hereford. The camp saw young and aspiring goalball players from across The UK come together to hone their skills and spend 3 fun packed days designed to help them improve their skills both on and off the goalball court.

The camp was supported by volunteers from Winchester and RNC goalball clubs, and players Kali Holder (GB Women/RNC) & Jack Peters (ETP player/Croysutt Warriors). They worked great with the players, and helped to make the camp the success it was.

Summer Camp wasn’t just about goalball, with players making new friends and taking part in evening ‘organised fun’ which helped everyone in attendance improve their confidence and social skills. Everyone was involved throughout the 3 days, with nobody being left out. It was amazing to see players helping each other out right from the start of the camp, even if they had never met before!

One player said “It was nice to meet new people, especially more experienced players who could help share their experience and knowledge” which shows the value of people coming from across the country to improve and learn together. Another player said “I enjoyed being able to play so much goalball and being coached on specific skills”, with Summer Camp being an opportunity to play goalball outside of a club setting.

We look forward to Summer Camp 2020!
