We launched our ‘parkrun to the Paralympics’ challenge on Saturday 25th August – exactly 2 years to go to the start of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics – with the aim being to virtually run the 9440km from Sheffield to Tokyo!

6 weeks in, good progress is being made with 28 different Goalball UK members having completed a parkrun somewhere. A special mention must go to Chris Payne (Derbyshire Ducks Goalball Club) who has completed Poolsbrook parkrun each week so has individually contributed 30km towards the total which currently stands at 395km (= 79 parkruns). This means we are now only 9045km (= 1809 parkruns) from Tokyo!

There are 105 ‘parkrun days’ to go, so lots of time to achieve our target, but the more members that get involved, obviously the quicker we’ll reach it. So, if you would like more information (and help finding a guide runner) please contact Kathryn (Tel. 07795 263642 or email kathryn@goalballuk.com).
