Following the latest Government announcement in England, all affiliated club activity in England, across all age groups, must stop from Thursday 5th November 2020.

Educational institutions should follow internal guidelines regarding activity for their students in indoor sports facilities. If activity is allowed, the institution should follow the Goalball UK Return to Play guidance.

We appreciate this is devasting news for the goalball family who have enjoyed playing our great sport again and to those who had hopes of returning in the coming weeks.

With the Government plans to end the lockdown 2nd December 2020 (subject to change) and return to tiered restrictions, we have set out the following to help with planning.

  • Affiliated club goalball, across all age groups, can be delivered across all tiers strictly following the Goalball UK Return to Play guidance. In tier 3 the additional restriction applies; no person should travel to or from a tier 3 area to participate, coach, or volunteer in goalball activity.
  • Education institutions should continue to follow internal guidelines regarding activity for their students in indoor sports facilities. If activity is allowed, the institution should follow the Goalball UK Return to Play guidance.

This guidance is based on organised disability sport being exempt when the tier system returns. Goalball UK will provide updates as and when relevant advice changes from the Government.

These changes have been reflected in section 11. Future Lockdowns of the guidance document accessed here; https://goalballuk.com/the-sport/r2p/

We urge affiliated clubs and members of the goalball family to continue to get in touch at Covid@goalballuk.com if they have any questions and or require support with their return to play plans, we are here to help!

Stay safe.

Best wishes
