Today we offer our sincerest thanks to a true champion of our sport: Peter Elliott,  who steps down after eight remarkable years as a Director on the Goalball UK Board.

Peter joined us in 2017 and has been an invaluable presence in our organisation ever since. His deep experience and insight, particularly as a former international athlete (a silver medallist in the 1500m at the Seoul 1988 Olympics) and a respected leader in the sports governance world, have been instrumental in shaping Goalball UK’s direction and strategy.

During his tenure, Peter provided crucial guidance as Goalball UK transitioned and grew, always maintaining a clear focus on good governance, athlete welfare and sustainable development.

John Grosvenor (Chair) said:

“Peter’s commitment to making sport accessible for all, combined with his expert understanding of high-performance environments, made him a truly exceptional member of our Board. We will miss his considered advice and his steadfast support for our athletes and community.”

We are incredibly proud of the progress Goalball UK has made over the past eight years, and Peter’s contribution to this success cannot be overstated. From grassroots development to supporting our elite GB teams, his influence has been felt across all levels of the sport.

Mark Winder, CEO adds:

“While we are sad to see him go, we wish Peter the very best in his future endeavours. We are immensely grateful for the energy, wisdom, and passion he dedicated to goalball.”

Thank you, Peter for your contribution to Goalball UK over the last eight years.
