Volunteering & Officiating

A group of Goalball UK volunteers and activators pose together for a smiley photo at an eventVolunteers are vital to the delivery of the sport across the UK. Our volunteers provide countless hours on a weekly basis to ensure the sport is delivered in the community. Volunteers also play a key role in the delivery of Goalball UK events and competitions. Your support will really make a difference in enabling us to help more people with a visual impairment play Goalball.

Volunteering within Goalball is a great way to support a Paralympic sport while making a difference in the community, develop new or existing skills, meet new people, and have fun!

You don’t need any qualifications to volunteer with us, all we require is dedication and commitment. Whatever your skill set, our inclusive environment allows everyone to get involved.

More details about the opportunities to get involved are listed below. If you would like any more information or have any questions, please contact Steve Cox at Steve.cox@goalballuk.com or call 07706286584.

Goalball Activator

Goalball Activators help to run competitions and goalball sessions, with the aim of getting more people with a visual impairment more active more often. As an activator you can get involved through officiating, assisting, coaching, leading, and promoting goalball competitions and sessions.

Becoming a Goalball Activator is also the first step on the Goalball UK officiating pathway. With ten officials required to run a game, we are always looking for new people to get involved. As an Activator official you will support the game by undertaking the Goal Judge and table officiating roles: Scorer, Timer, and Ten Second Timer. No prior experience of goalball is required, with training and support provided along with Goalball UK branded activator kit.
