Every Thursday we put the spotlight on the people involved with goalball – from players, officials, coaches, supporters and more.

This week we caught up with Daniel White.

What club do you play for or coach?

I play for Croysutt Warriors.

How did you discover goalball?

I went along to a taster session that Tommy Britton and Robin Faulkner delivered at Croydon Vision when I was about 10. I really enjoyed it so joined the club.

Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?

I often get a lift with Dan Wainwright who has a very mixed playlist. One of our favourites is ‘The Irish Rover’ by The Dubliners.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?

I make sure that I do a good warm up. I always like to throw a ball as well.

Do you have a favourite post-match meal?

Whatever my mum has cooked!

Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?

Everyone at Croysutt Warriors but especially Tommy Britton and Jack Peters. I have been playing for 5 years now and wouldn’t have got to where I am without them.

Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?

I like playing football and I support Crystal Palace. I also enjoy listening to audiobooks. Fantasy stories are my favourite.

Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?

I would like to go to Ayers Rock and everywhere else in Australia to see all of the different wildlife.
