Goalball UK have decided to cease all activities on the social media platform X, with immediate effect. This decision comes after careful consideration by the Board of the platform’s recent evolution and its alignment with Goalball UK’s values of inclusivity, respect, and safety.
Mark Winder, CEO said: “‘At Goalball UK, we are committed to fostering a positive and supportive environment for all. This includes our online presence, which should be a safe space for our athletes, fans, and the wider community to engage with our sport.'”
“‘Our decision reflects a growing concern about the rise of hate speech, misinformation, and online abuse on the platform. We believe that these trends create a hostile environment that is not conducive to meaningful engagement and could potentially harm its community members. We believe that everyone should have the right to enjoy sport without fear of harassment or discrimination. We cannot in good conscience continue to contribute to a platform that does not actively prioritise the safety and well-being of its users.'” added John Grosvenor, Chair of Goalball UK.
Goalball UK will continue to engage with its community through other social media platforms, and its official website.
