Nottinghamshire Sheriffs goalball player Harry Bainbridge has proven that age is just a number.

At the age of 12 Harry has achieved a number of accolades over the 2017-2018 season. Starting the season as a novice player, Harry was nominated by his club to attend Goalball UK’s National Talent Camp 2018. Thoroughly impressing at the camp, Harry’s achievements have now been recognised by his school Ecclesbourne School (Derbyshire) with the presentation of a school ‘Merit Tie’. These are awarded to those students who are selected to represent their county or country in sporting or musical activities and, on occasion, Merit Ties have been given for outstanding service to the school.

As the end of the season approaches Harry’s efforts, determination and commitment to goalball has also transpired into awards from his fellow players and coaches.

Harry has received the following awards from Nottinghamshire Sheriffs GC:-

  • Player of the Year 2017/2018
  • Most Committed Player 2017/2018

When asked what Harry’s goalball aspirations are he replied modestly with “he wants to play to the best of his ability and carry on getting better.  Whenever there is a clash between activities, Goalball always comes first.”

Congratulations Harry from everyone at Goalball UK and the goalball community.
