Each week we are digging through the Goalball UK archives to look back at some of our favourite memories from the sport from years gone by.
To celebrate Birmingham being announced as the host for the next IBSA World Games in 2023, we’re heading back to 2015 to revisit a great performance from the Great Britain women in Seoul.
Five years ago, the Great Britain women’s squad headed to the Land of the Morning Calm to compete against some of the world’s top teams at the IBSA World Games in Seoul.
The tournament lives long in the memory, not only because of the stunning performances, but also the commitment and hard work of everyone involved through their individual fundraising efforts to get to the Games.
On the court, the team of Andrea Logan, Anna Tipton, Georgie Bullen, Laura Perry and Sarah Leiter rose to the occasion and made it to the quarter finals. Along the way, Great Britain thrashed Australia 5-1, drew an epic 4-4 match with rivals Germany and overcame South Korea 4-2 on home soil.
You can relive the drama against Germany here:
Great Britain’s journey was eventually ended as the team were beaten by Israel – who went on to win the tournament.
We can’t wait for the action to get underway in a little over three years in Birmingham – we’re sure there will be many more incredible performances to celebrate from our Great Britain squads!
