Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials, coaches, or anyone!

This week we caught up with Anes Salah!

What club do you play for or coach?

I play for Fen Tigers at Intermediate and Elite level.

How did you discover goalball?

I played a little bit when I was at secondary school (Priestley Smith in Birmingham) although it was on mats. I then started playing properly when I went to RNC.

Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?

I like English rap. Dave is one of my favourite artists.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?

I’m quite relaxed before a game – or some people might say lazy! I just like to take some time to think and prepare myself for the game.

Do you have a favourite post-match meal?

Not really. When I was at RNC we often used to stop off at McDonalds on the way home.

Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?

Emma Evans because of her enthusiasm for the sport.

Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?

I also play blind football (for West Brom) and have recently started kickboxing. I am currently working towards my orange belt.

Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?

Hawaii because it sounds like paradise
