Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials, coaches, or anyone!
This week we caught up with Ashleigh Dilnot!
What club do you play for or coach?
I play for West Yorkshire.
How did you discover goalball?
I first played goalball at high school and enjoyed it, so we found a club after that – my first West Yorkshire training session was in February 2017.
Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?
I love listening to musical CDs – my favourites are ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Wicked’.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
I love wearing the number 5 top because it’s my lucky number.
Do you have a favourite post-match meal?
Cheesy chips, always, and it’s got to have chip spice on or it’s not special enough!
Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?
Josh Windle because he’s really good and always friendly and kind to me.
Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?
I have a horse and love horse riding. I also like archery, watching musicals at the theatre and going to theme parks. Oh, and going to the cat cafe because I love cats!
Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?
Mongolia because there are lots of wild horses and I believe that horses should be able to roam free.
