Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials to coaches, or anyone
This week we caught up with Faith Johnson!
What club do you play for or coach?
I play for South Yorkshire.
How did you discover goalball?
When I was in Year 11, I went to a Have a Go Day at RNC and we got to play goalball. I really enjoyed it as PE at my school wasn’t that accessible.
Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?
I like rock music – bands like Imagine Dragons, Panic at the Disco and Fall Out Boy.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
Not really. I just try and chill out.
Do you have a favourite post-match meal?
I like pizza. Margherita or – controversially! – Hawaiian.
Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?
There isn’t one particular player. Everyone at South Yorkshire is really friendly and supportive.
Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?
I love reading. I’m currently re-reading all the Harry Potter books. I also like painting and Cosplay. My favourite character is probably Todoroki as he has got a really dry sense of humour.
Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?
I’m currently studying Spanish at University with Italian as my second language so I’d really like to go to Italy to learn more about their culture.
