What club do you play for or coach?

I play for Fen Tigers and GB Women.

How did you discover goalball?

When I was 14, I was invited to a Paralympic Talent Identification day where they carried out different tests on me – but to be honest, I didn’t think anything would come from it because I’d always attended mainstream school so I struggled to do the same as the other kids when it came to sports. To my surprise however, I got a call back to attend what I thought was the next round of testing..…it turned out to be a Men’s & Women’s GB training camp – that was over 12 years ago, so I clearly haven’t looked back!

Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?

Well, in the GB team we have a Goalball playlist that we listen to as we warm up and a couple of my favourites from that are Gravity by DJ Fresh and Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore. Though a couple of my favourite songs when I’m working out is Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars and High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco – I have set up a gym at home so I like to have a dance around in between sets.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?

Not really – I’ve always tried to avoid adopting any in case there’s a time where I can’t do it and freak myself out. I do like having a routine though and tend to feel a little uneasy if it hasn’t gone to plan – but that’s just more about making sure I’m really warmed up.

Do you have a favourite post-match meal?

Hmmmm…well, to be honest, it’s generally more about quantity for me after a game than the actual meal. But something involving chicken is always good.

Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?

Although she’s now retired, I would have to say Anna Tipton. For the first 8 years of my career, Anna played a huge part in my development as a player; she encouraged me, led by example and always helped to unite the team. No matter who your opposition was, with Anna on your team you always felt like you could win.

Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?

I love painting and anything arty really – and I recently got a punchbag so have got into doing a bit of boxercise.

Two images, one of Georgie stood in a boxing stance with her boxing gloves on and the other of her crouched down with her boxing gloves on.

Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?

New Zealand – might be a bit geeky but the Lord of the Rings are some of my favourite films and ever since I saw them and saw the incredible scenery, I’ve always wanted to go. So that’s definitely on my bucket list.
