Sports insurance specialist Sports Insure, part of the global professional services firm Aon plc, is continuing its support for inclusive sport by renewing its collaboration with Goalball UK. The sponsorship aims to boost the creation of more opportunities for blind and partially sighted people to take part in physical activity.
Now in its second year, the collaboration will see Sports Insure return as the headline sponsor of the 2026 Intermediate Trophy competitions and the Goalball UK Shield. These events take place at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield this weekend, and the Nottingham Wildcats Arena on 30 May. The competitions will bring together teams from across the UK.
This renewed partnership aims to increase participation in our sport, support its long-term sustainability, and raise awareness of the opportunities available for the two million people in the UK with visual impairments to get involved in physical activity.
Dawn Luby, client management director at Sports Insure, said: “Sports Insure’s support for Goalball UK is more than just sponsorship, it’s about helping more people discover a sport that’s built around inclusion, and making sure it’s always there. Access to sport shouldn’t depend on your eyesight, but for many people who are blind or partially sighted, the opportunities just aren’t there. We want to see more people getting involved, more communities engaged, and greater awareness of what goalball offers.”
Goalball UK CEO, Mark Winder, added: “Sports Insure truly understands the value of inclusion and fairness, and we are thrilled to continue working with them. As we look forward to the competitions in Sheffield and Nottingham, this backing allows us to champion goalball not just as a sport, but as a vital community. Together, we are ensuring that more blind and partially sighted people have the opportunity to take part in physical activity through a sport designed specifically for them.”
