The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers donate to support Goalball UK’s outreach programmes

The Worship Company of Spectacle Makers have made a generous donation to support Goalball UK’s Have a Go days, Open Refereeing and Open Coaching courses.

The £5000 donation will help Goalball UK in our mission to transform the lives of blind and partially sighted people through goalball. Our Have a Go days are often the first time a blind or partially sighted person and their family come across goalball. We want everyone to experience the joy of the sport and to feel supported in developing the skills needed to play this brilliant game.

At these events parents see their child smile when they score a goal, make friends and become part of the community. We believe everyone deserves the chance to be active and the inclusive sport of goalball leaves nobody behind.

Mark Winder, CEO of Goalball UK said “It is tremendous news to receive this grant. Especially, when everything is costing so much more at the moment. We aim to make good use of the donation to ensure a Legacy occurs as a result of the IBSA World Games in Birmingham so even more people can enjoy goalball.”
