Goalball UK is excited to announce that applications are now open for the voluntary position of Chair of the Board. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who believes in the power of sport to change lives and wants to champion our mission of empowering blind and partially sighted people across the UK.

As the National Governing Body for goalball, we are proud to lead a sport built on inclusivity, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. The Chair will help strengthen our governance, support our people, and ensure we continue providing meaningful and high‑quality opportunities for everyone who plays, coaches, volunteers, and engages with goalball.

What the Role Involves

The Chair provides leadership to the Board and acts as a trusted partner to the Chief Executive. This voluntary role requires around 3–5 days per month and is ideal for someone who enjoys collaboration, supporting organisational growth, and helping shape a positive future for the sport. In this role, you will:

  • Guide the Board to ensure strong, transparent and effective governance
  • Support and challenge our leadership team in delivering our long‑term priorities
  • Champion Goalball UK across the wider sporting landscape
  • Help ensure the sustainability and ongoing success of the organisation

As part of this work, the Chair will play a vital role in driving forward our Empowering Our People strategy, which focuses on growing and developing our players and workforce, enhancing high‑quality experiences, strengthening partnerships, improving organisational health, and raising awareness of our sport and our people.
