Goalball UK launches initiative to keep community active and engaged.

Today (Friday 27th March), Goalball UK has launched its new initiative to help keep the goalball community engaged, provide inspiration to remain active and put the spotlight on what everyone involved in the sport is getting up to whilst we must remain at home.

To get the campaign underway, Goalball UK will be posting more regular content on its website and social media channels. The first instalment is a weekly round-up of the best social media activity from the goalball community: https://goalballuk.com/weekly-round-up-goalball-on-social-media/

Goalball UK will also take a weekly look back at milestone moments from the sport and put the spotlight on players, coaches and officials.

Furthermore, over the coming days and weeks Goalball UK will announce a series of virtual quizzes and coffee mornings for the community to keep in touch, as well as challenges for the goalball clubs across the country to take part in on social media.

Goalball UK is also incorporating Sport England’s plan to keep the nation fit, encouraging the goalball community to use the hashtag #StayInWorkOut, as well as #GoalballFamily, on social media. For more information about this, please visit, www.sportengland.org/stayinworkout.

Mark Winder, Goalball UK chief executive, said: “This is such an unprecedented situation we’re living through right now. With the cancellation of all Goalball UK competitions, we wanted to do more for our community of players, coaches and officials.

“Our aim is to ensure that as many of you as possible are keeping active when indoors, having someone to talk to when you feel isolated, and something interesting to read and engaging to look forward to when inevitable boredom sets in.

“By sticking together, we can get through this difficult period in a strong as possible position. As always Goalball UK want you, the goalball family, to be at the heart of everything we do. So please keep tagging us on social media, using the hashtags #GoalballFamily and #StayInWorkOut, to tell us everything you are doing to stay fit and keep your mind engaged during these tough times.

“We want to touch base with as many of you as possible and we hope you enjoy what we have planned, so please check out what we are up to over the next few weeks.

“Finally, please follow the Government’s advice on staying indoors, it could save lives.”
