Celebrating remarkable achievements: Goalball UK End of Season Award Winners

At Goalball UK, we believe in recognising and celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of our dedicated athletes and community.

As another successful season comes to a close, we are proud to announce and congratulate the winners of the Goalball UK End of Season Awards. These individuals have exemplified the spirit of determination, teamwork, and inclusivity, leaving a positive effect on the goalball community!

2022/23 Player of the Season

Lois Turner and Matt Loftus (Northern Allstars)

For 2022-23 the clubs and competitions committee have decided to give the award to two people for their performances for Great Britain while developing Goalball in the North East together. This season they have taken Northern Allstars to an all playing level club. They have both contributed away from the court with coaching sessions, organising the teams, and being fantastic role models for members of the club.

Internationally Lois helped GB Women finish 7th at the World Championships, while Matt played a key role in the GB Men finishing 4th at the European B Championships.

Domestically they both played a vital role for Northern Allstars winning both the 20222-23 Intermediate North League and the Goalball UK Super League.

Tommy Britton (Croysutt Warriors)

Tommy set up Croysutt Warriors Goalball Club in 2015 and since then has given so much of his time to help develop the club to support people with a visual impairment in South London.

Tommy performs every role within the club: playing, coaching, fundraising while also promoting and delivering the sport in the local community. Tommy also supports Goalball UK with delivery of the Find The Next Goalball Academy and Talent Squads.

Tommy has done all of this whilst studying for a university degree and setting up his own business.
