Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials to coaches, or anyone!

This week we caught up with Arthur Milles!

What club do you play for or coach?

I play for Winchester.

How did you discover goalball?

I first tried goalball at an event in Queen Elizabeth Park when I was about 6. I then joined Winchester Goalball Club when I was about 10.

Is there a particular song, artist, or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving now?

I like soundtracks from films such as Jurassic Park, Jaws and The Greatest Showman.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?

No, I just get on court and play.

Do you have a favourite post-match meal?

I like a Big Mac or a pepperoni pizza. I also like sushi.

Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?

Adam Knott as I have learnt so much from him.

Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?

Running. I regularly do Bushy parkrun which is 5K but I also race over shorter distances such as the 800m. I enjoy taking part in the Metro Games. I also like swimming and playing my violin.

Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?

I’d like to go to Australia to see all the different animals although maybe not the spiders, sharks, snakes and crocodiles!
