Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials, coaches, or anyone.
This week we caught up with Harry Boden!
What club do you play for or coach?
I play for Nottinghamshire Sheriffs.
How did you discover goalball?
My primary school set up an after-school goalball club. I stopped playing for a while, due to lockdown, but started again in the summer of 2021 and joined Nottinghamshire Sheriffs at the start of this season.
Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?
I’ve always loved listening to Eminem, and more recently I have got into bands such as the Arctic Monkeys.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
I don’t have any superstitions but I’m always checking I have all my pads and anything else I need packed.
Do you have a favourite post-match meal?
I love getting fast food on the way home from a tournament, usually a McDonalds or a KFC.
Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?
I admire all of my teammates at Nottinghamshire Sheriffs and also in the Goalball Academy that I have recently joined. It’s great to see everyone progress and help each other to become better players.
Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?
I enjoy going to the gym with my brothers or playing with my friends online.
Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?
I would love to go to Germany as I really enjoy history and there is loads of history there.
