This week we caught up with James Wood!

What club do you play for or coach?

I play for Mersey Sharks.

How did you discover goalball?

Through word of mouth. My first tournament was in Sheffield in October 2019, and I ended up finishing the season as the top male goalscorer in the Novice North League!

Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?

I like listening to Pink Floyd.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?

I just do a good warm-up.

Do you have a favourite post-match meal?

Tuna pasta.

Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?

Matt Cliff because he is such a great all-around sportsman.

Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?

I like to go to the gym and play cricket. I also like cooking.

Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?

I am going to Turkey this year which is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. I would also like to go on a cruise sometime.
