Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials to coaches, or anyone!
We want to use this opportunity where we have a bit more time on our hands to get to know you all a little bit better.
This week we caught up with Scottish player, Samantha-Louise Gough.
Which club do you play for?
I have played for York and also as part of Composite teams.
How did you discover goalball?
I attended a have a go event in Dundee March 2019, where I met Kathryn from Goalball UK and loved the session.
Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you are loving at the moment?
I love listening to music, Billie Eilish and Dermott Kennedy, but don’t really use it before tournaments more for relaxing.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
No, but enjoy our pre-match team briefings.
Do you have a favourite post-match meal?
McDonald’s – my favourite meal is chicken nuggets and fries!
Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?
I don’t really admire a single person but have learnt so much from my team members, training partners, coaches and all the friends I have met through being part of the Goalball Family.
Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?
I love Swimming and attend 3 training sessions every week, I love horse riding, and all sports really. I have recently rediscovered my creativity through art, especially painting.
Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?
I love to travel and have already visited many places, but I’d love to experience the Golden Triangle on the West Coast of The USA.
