Each Thursday we want to put the spotlight on a person involved with goalball – from players, officials, coaches, or anyone!
This week we caught up with Tom Lancaster!
What club do you play for or coach?
I play for New College Worcester (NCW).
How did you discover goalball?
I started playing goalball in Year 7 when I started at NCW – I am now in Year 13.
Is there a particular song, artist or genre that you listen to before a tournament to get in the mood? Or anything you’re loving at the moment?
I like listening to Lewis Capaldi and The Weeknd. My favourite song to get me ready to play is Back in Black by AC/DC.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
I always doing a really thorough warm-up, starting with my upper body and then my lower body.
Do you have a favourite post-match meal?
I like Mac and Cheese.
Which goalball player do you admire the most and why?
Stuart Hudson and Naqib Ahmed as they are both former NCW students and it is really motivating to see what they have achieved.
Outside of goalball, what other hobbies/sports do you do?
I like playing basketball, football and rugby. I also enjoy going to watch rugby – both Worcester Warriors and England.
Finally, what place, anywhere in the world, is on your bucket list to visit and why?
I would really like to go skiing in Italy again.
