Volunteers are crucial to goalball in both clubs and at Goalball UK tournaments. Without them, the sport could not continue!
International Volunteer is a great opportunity to say thank you to all of our volunteers who commit their time to goalball activities (in any role and in any capacity). Across the years, volunteers who have attended Goalball UK National League Tournaments have originated from far and wide. In total, there have been 10 countries spanning four continents. These include:
- Europe:
- Germany
- Iceland
- Poland
- Russia
- United Kingdom
- Asia:
- Japan
- Malaysia
- South Korea
- North America
- The USA
- South America
- Columbia
These volunteers have spent their time volunteering at the following tournaments across all levels of competition in the UK (Novice – Elite):
- Bristol
- Birmingham
- Peterborough
- Sheffield
We have greats link to universities in recruiting through the work of our Operations Manager Steve Cox who travels up and down the country to university fairs to recreate budding volunteers. We have had 7 universities represented at our tournaments which are as follows:
- Bishop Grosseteste University
- Sheffield Hallam University
- University of Birmingham
- University of Bristol
- University of Nottingham
- University of Sheffield
- York St John University
This is just at our tournaments! Many of our clubs depend solely on volunteers to thrive and we at Goalball UK want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your efforts in making our sport what it is in the United Kingdom. The work you do truly does go a long way to #TransformPeoplesLives.
