As the National Governing Body for Goalball in the UK, we are committed to the full participation of trans athletes, coaches and other volunteers in domestic competitions which we organise or oversee. Our current policy on the Inclusion of Trans People can be found online here.
During 2020, the Sports Councils Equality Group (SCEG) commissioned a Review into Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport in the UK, which led to a consultation across more than 54 sports and representing 175 organisations. Based on the results, the SCEG released new Guidance for Transgender Inclusion in Domestic Sport in September 2021 (online here).
In response, Goalball UK will now review our own guidance and policy with relevant people and organisations in and outside the sport.

“We see this as a vital piece of work to continue making the Goalball Family an inclusive space for all. We remain fully committed to the inclusion of transgender people in our sport, and we will communicate if we make any changes to our policy.”
