Goalball UK are excited to announce that applications are now open for a first of its kind program…the #FindTheNext Goalball Academy!
This is a new and exciting two year program which is an amazing opportunity for:
- A group of 12 – 16-year olds who will be on a journey to develop themselves on and off the goalball court.
- 2 head coaches and 2 assistant coaches who will play a key role in supporting these young people using goalball as a catalyst to reach their full potential.
The #FindTheNext Goalball Academy is a chance for both players and coaches to test themselves whilst having fun and getting to meet new people, everything that we believe goalball is all about. There will be the opportunity to learn about all the skills we feel are really important to become a successful goalball athlete of the future whilst flourishing as a young adult.
This opportunity is available to anyone within the #GoalballFamily and beyond throughout the UK within the set criteria. It is going to be a fun team to be a part of and we cannot wait to get the ball rolling!
The Goalball UK National Talent Lead and GB Men’s Head Coach, Faye Dale is eager to see the program begin “I personally cannot wait to see players being given an opportunity to play goalball but also to learn what it takes to become a future goalball athlete”.
Finally, Alex Cockerham, who is the Project Lead for the #FindTheNext Goalball Academy “I am really excited to get to meet everyone on the program (virtually and in person!). I think this is a great opportunity for everyone involved to develop as people and in our goalball ability, whether that be as a coach or as a player. Not to mention all the fun we will have on the program trying new things!”.
