Goalball UK has announced the Great Britain men’s senior squad that will compete at the 10th Annual Pajulahti Games in Finland.

Joining coach Faye Dale is Stuart Hudson (RNC/Scarborough Panthers), Matt Loftus (Northern Allstars), Caleb Nanevie (Northern Allstars), Dan Roper (Fen Tigers), Joe Roper (Fen Tigers) and David Scott (Winchester).

Getting underway on Friday 17 January, Great Britain face the hosts in the opening game of the men’s tournament (08:00). In the afternoon, Great Britain will take on Spain (14:00).

The following day the team will complete the group stage of the competition against the USA (11:00) and Belgium (17:00).

By topping the group, Great Britain will go straight into the final with a chance to secure a gold medal. A second-place finish will see the team compete in the bronze medal match.

Speaking about the tournament, Faye commented: “This Pajulahti Games is a great way to start the decade for the men’s senior team. A strong performance here is the perfect platform for a successful 2020 and to continue our development moving forward.

“Build up for the competition has been fantastic. The strength and conditioning work that we have been doing with the team at York St John University has had a massive impact getting the squad ready for this competition.

“We have a decent record at the Pajulahti Games and we are determined to continue our progress. There are some very good goalball teams participating, but we know what our qualities are and that we’re very difficult to beat. We can’t wait to get underway against Finland on Friday.”
