The next stop on the 2021/2022 Competition Calendar was Matchday 3 of the Intermediate North League on Saturday 12th – Sunday 13th March. 2 weeks after the Intermediate Trophy, some of the teams were swiftly back in action looking to achieve their league aspirations. Fen Tigers top the league table after racking up 11 wins, and 3 losses. 3 of those victories came on day 1 on Saturday (vs Nottingham – 10-4, vs Lancashire Lions – 11-2, vs York St John – 12-2). Marc Powell and Georgie Bullen are on the chase to become the top male and female goalscorer, and are both currently second with 38 goals each!

West Yorkshire are hot on the Fen Tigers tail, continued their perfect form being the only team in the North League yet to lose a game. They overcame Lancashire Lions and Nottinghamshire Sheriffs 14-4, and Mersey Sharks 9-2 on day 1, with every member of the team playing their part! After such a great day, confidence was flowing on Sunday with West Yorkshire winning 5-2 against Fen Tigers, to support their charge to the top spot of the league. West Yorkshire finished their Matchday 3 with a close encounter with Nottinghamshire Sheriffs, winning 9-6.

Matchday 3 was a tale of two halves for Nottinghamshire Sheriffs, with all of their victories coming on day 2. Sunday for the Sheriffs got off to a great start as they got their first victory of the Matchday against Kirklees (8-3), followed up by a very close and high scoring fixture against Lancashire Lions (13-12) and to round off the Matchday in the final game, beating York St John 15-8. This leaves the Sheriffs in 6th place in the League with 12 points. Harry Bainbridge certainly played his part in supporting his team throughout the weekend, win or lose, as he was awarded Player of the Day! Harry Bainbridge Player of the Day photo.Lancashire Lions are close behind the Sheriffs in 7th with 10 points, after picking up 3 points in Matchday 3 after a convincing victory against Kirklees (16-6). Matthew Woofe continues to be a key player for his team as he leads the goalscoring charts in the North League, scoring 40 goals!
