In 5 weeks, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.
Each week we are introducing you to 2 of the participants:
Phil Green is from Barnsley. Cricket used to be his main sport but 5 years ago he discovered Goalball and the rest as they say is history! This season he plays at Elite level for Nottinghamshire but also trains with both South and West Yorkshire. He is a qualified coach and often delivers Goalball sessions to school groups. He enjoys all sports and plays football for Danby Rovers in the West Riding Ability Counts League and is a member of the Sheffield VI Ten Pin Bowling group. He has recently started doing more swimming, cycling and running with the intention of doing a triathlon soon.
Sam is from Witney in Oxfordshire and is currently studying for his GCSE’s. He plays for Winchester Goalball Club and is part of the Goalball UK Youth Talent Programme. Last July he was one of 5 British players selected to attend an International Youth Development Camp held in Finland during the World Championships. He also plays cricket for Berkshire and enjoys cycling.
