In 2 weeks, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.
Each week we are introducing you to 2 of the participants:
Amanda from North Yorkshire enjoys walking and is a lapsed cyclist wishing to get back into the saddle. Currently she swims three or four times a week, and is a Cub Scout Leader. Amanda is planning to leave her husband home alone with their 3 year old black Labrador dog ‘Dart’ whilst cycling The Way of the Roses. She says she is looking forward to meeting everyone, and being part of the team taking up the challenge of crossing the country by cycling the 170 miles from coast to coast.
Rachel currently works part time in Huddersfield and co-ordinates Volunteers for Kirklees VI Network which is a user lead charity supporting people who are blind or partially sighted. Part of Rachel’s role is co-ordinating the Tandem Trekkers group who meet regularly in Huddersfield. She has been getting training in on the Trans Pennine Trail and on a sports track. She is looking forward to being part of the Coast to Coast team and having a hoot along the way.
