In 13 weeks, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.

Each week we will introduce you to 2 of the participants:

David Scott
David Scott
David is from Gosport in Hampshire but is currently at the Royal National College (RNC) for the blind in Hereford where he is studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. This season he plays for RNC at Elite level having been the top goal scorer in the Intermediate South League last season. He is also part of the Goalball UK Youth Talent Programme. When asked why he enjoys playing Goalball he simply said “because it’s just awesome”! He also likes football – he is a Portsmouth fan – and snooker.
Andy Gordon
Andy first saw Goalball at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and decided to ‘Get Involved’ so went along to a taster session in Cardiff. He is now a qualified coach and referee and regularly helps out at training sessions and officiates at tournaments. He works as an engineer and is currently learning British Sign Language (Level 2). He is looking forward to the ride but is nervous about the distance as his daily cycle commute to work is only 1½ miles! He has done a couple of longer trial rides though (of 38 and 58 miles) so by August 170 miles shouldn’t be a problem!
