In 10 weeks, 15 tandems will be setting off from Morecambe in Lancashire to cycle the 170 Coast to Coast miles to Bridlington in East Yorkshire, to raise money for Goalball UK.

Each week we are introducing you to 2 of the participants:

Kali Holder
Kali Holder
Kali is from Brighton but is currently studying at New College Worcester. She plays Goalball for Winchester and is also part of the Goalball UK Youth Talent Programme. Last season she was the top female goal scorer in the Novice League and this season she is the joint top female goal scorer in the Intermediate (Region Z) League. Kali enjoys “anything sporty” and says that the best thing about Goalball is that it is competitive but friendly.
Fran Heley
Fran Heley
Fran was originally from London, but emigrated north over 20 years ago! She has taught music privately and in schools for many years, and currently works for Leeds City Council. She teaches all the woodwind instruments, but her main love is the oboe. To counter the sedentary life-style of a music teacher, Fran does a lot of swimming and biking. She cycles regularly with Ilkley Cycling Club, and says that she is often found at the back of the group gasping for air! Fran has dabbled a bit with triathlon, but has had to stop running due to general decrepitude! She is currently training for a couple of cycling events which are taking place in Yorkshire over the next few months. Fran is really looking forward to the Coast to Coast ride and especially a large plate of fish and chips at Bridlington!
