On Friday 6th May to Sunday 8th May the Great Britain Women’s squad competed in the Malmö Lady Cup 2016 as they began their preparations for the IBSA European B Championships which are taking place in October. The GB team were part of a world record tournament which boasting the most womens teams entered into an international competition with a total of 16.

The team of Anna Tipton (Cambridge), Antonia Bunyan (York), Georgie Bullen (Leicester), Sarah Leiter (Cambridge), Kali Holder (Winchester) and Laura Perry (RNC Hereford) were drawn in a tough group consisting of 2 Rio Paralympic teams Turkey and Israel and Sweden the Bronze medallists from London 2012. GB finished the group in 3rd place beating Sweden and losing to Israel and Turkey. This meant that GB were in another pool of 4 to playoff for 9th to 12th place. This was against Algeria, Japan and Ukraine who are all Rio Paralympic teams. After a tough weekend the girls fought hard and beat Ukraine and lost to Algeria and Japan meaning that they finished the competition in 11th place.

Overall it was a great experience and good preparations for the IBSA European B Championships.
