Following a period of development work, South Wales Goalball Club will hopefully be launching in early 2017. It began during the summer holidays with a taster session in Pontypool organised by the Gwent VI team. A number of members of staff and local coaches then attended a School Leaders course in Newport at the start of the new academic year.
Goalball was also showcased at the Disability Sport Wales Insport Series at Cardiff Met University in September. There was then a follow up session in November at Fitzalan High School in Cardiff where another session has now been arranged for Saturday 14th January (2.30pm to 4.30pm). There is also going to be a session in Swansea on Wednesday 15th February in partnership with the RNIB.
If all goes to plan, an Intermediate team will be making their competitive debut at the Region B tournament in Reading in March and then a Novice team at the Region B tournament in Reading in April.
